Password-Protected Emails (Similar to ProtonMail/Gmail)
Dear Zimbra Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I would like to formally request the implementation of a feature that enables users to send password-protected emails, similar to functionalities currently available in ProtonMail and Gmail. While Zimbra supports S/MIME encryption, this option requires recipients to have pre-configured certificates, which can be limiting in certain use cases.
The proposed feature would allow users to send an email protected by a password that is either set manually or generated, and then shared with the recipient through a separate secure channel. This would provide an additional layer of security for confidential messages, especially when communicating with recipients outside our domain who may not have S/MIME configured.
Such an enhancement would significantly improve the user experience and align Zimbra with current secure email trends and practices.
We would greatly appreciate your consideration of this request and would be happy to provide additional feedback or use cases if needed.
